How to Prepare Your Home for a Storm in Long Island

  • Please follow all instructions from management, local officials, and trusted news sources when they advise you to stay home, get off the roads, evacuate, etc.
  • When the forecast predicts high wind speeds, please secure or bring in any outdoor items such as plants and furniture that may be on your porch, patio, deck, balcony, etc.
  • Stock up on non-perishable food, water, first-aid supplies, and medications for all household members including pets. Additionally, ensure that your home is equipped with a manual can-opener in the event of any power disruptions due to a storm.
  • Keep a physical list of emergency contacts.
  • Charge up phones and power banks.
  • Check in with neighbors and friends, especially those who are more vulnerable to extreme weather.
  • Be patient with management as we address storm-related maintenance such as snow removal, repairs, etc.
  • Keep flashlights and spare batteries at the ready. Do not use flame-lit candles or ovens to light or heat your home.
